One final point I want to emphasize is connectivity with the iPad (and also presumably all other Apple devices). You can project everything you do on your laptop, from Powerpoints to DVDs, YouTube videos and even Skype calls. Some of the other things it can obviously do is to connect to your laptop, via the sold separately VGA cable - and this also works perfectly well. I deliberately focused on that because most other reviews were not, and I want to emphasize that combining it with a cheap TOSHIBA DVD player, you get a cinema in your room for less than £250. Well, the Picopix 1430 passed with an A the "pocket cinema" test. Yes, you might not get a perfect rectangle easily, but it doesn't reduce your entertainment by the tiniest amount. About the lack of keystone correction - don't let it worry you at all. The one supplied does the job decently, but you sometimes need to remember your A-Level Mechanics in order to find the perfect way to balance it with all the cables pulling the projector from the various sides.Īlso, some rainbow effect may occur every now and then, which causes some annoyance - but you won't even notice it after the first two or three movies you will have seen.
Thirdly, the projector being so light, is very easy to topple and lose its balance, so you should preferably lay it flat on a solid surface which is high enough to project to the height you want, or invest in a more sturdy tripod. But, obviously, the "big-screen" experience is all gone then, and I am more than happy to sacrifice high definition for a 72'' screen (because that's exactly what you will be doing).

Secondly, while the motion and colours are realistic, and there is no sound/video delay of any sort, the image of a movie on a computer screen or a TV is better than the image the Picopix projects. If you do that, though, you will get a very decent image even in a room which is, well, not completely bright, but let's say with curtains half-drawn. Firstly, I manage to get the perfect movie experience only at night, when the room is completely dark - any daylight coming in means that you have to move the projector much closer to the wall/screen, and hence reduce the image's size. While it doesn't have a particular "huge" flaw, there are some aspects which prevent it from being perfect. Now, at this point one might wonder why I gave the product four stars, rather than five. Video motion is very fluid, sound is more than acceptable (even from the built-in speakers), colours and brightness are realistic, and the entire experience does remind you a lot of being in an actual cinema. The idea was to connect it to a DVD player via the (thankfully supplied) AV Cables, and watch movies on my own personal bedroom "cinema".
